Course Syllabus:

Week 1
Optimum Health for The Childbearing Years
-Discover the unique nutritional needs of mother's who are gestating or who have gestated a child once or even many times. Learn the "principle of rebuilding" which applies equally whether you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have given birth (recently or not so recently)! Discover how you can regain and fortify your energy and vitality while continually increasing your natural state of optimal health. Mother heal thyself!


Week 2
Holistic Self care throughout Pregnancy, Postpartum and Motherhood
-Discover how you can nourish your whole self beyond the realm of food. Learn why honouring motherhood uphold's the health and well-being of the planet. Discover ways in which you can serve the new mother's in your midst!


Week 3
Feeding the Young Child-Body and Soul
-Discover nutrient dense and building foods for your child. Troubleshooting "dinner table drama" and how to nurture your child's soul drawing on the waldorf ideas.


Week 4
Feeding Babies-Preventing and Treating Allergies, Sensitivities and Digestive Upsets Naturally
-Discover uncommon, yet sensible wisdom about when and how to introduce solid foods to your baby. Good digestion is the foundation of good health, learn how to optimize your child's digestive capabilities.



Week 5
Traditional Food- Nature’s Fast Food for Busy Families
-Discover why traditional foods save you time and give you the most bang for your nutritional "buck". In this class we draw on wisdom from Dr. Weston Price Foundation and learn how we can benefit from the nutrition provided by compassionately raised animals and how to adapt traditional food principles into the vegan and vegetarian diet.


Week 6
Superfoods for the Whole Family
-Discover how your kitchen pantry can expand your natural medicine cabinet! Learn how to harness the potency of superfoods to heal deep nutrient deficiencies and compensate for modern stresses and toxicity. In this class you will discover the medicinal and nutritional benefits of the following superfoods: unrefined sea salt, raw sauerkraut, raw vinegar, raw honey, raw miso, cereal grasses, microalgae, bee products, seaweeds, therapeutic oils, probiotics, aloe vera and medicinal mushrooms.


Week 7
Controversial Choices in Children’s Health Care- Flouridation, Vaccination and Treating Fevers etc.
-In this class, we will learn about the controversies surrounding these subjects, so that we can make informed choices from a place of love and trust, rather than fear and conditioning. Natural alternatives will be explored such as natural sources of flouride, how to prevent dental issues, homeopathic vaccinations and detoxification and how to treat fevers without suppresing the body's natural healing forces.


Week 8
Creating Your Family’s Natural Medicine Kit
-Learn how to treat the common health concerns of babies and young children. Discover how you can treat common childhood illnesses with natural medicinal herbs, supplements and homeopathy without side effects! Learn how to use preventative measures instead of suppressive and toxic treatments. We will focus on the particular health needs of  your family so that you can get the resources you need to support and fortify your own and your child's optimal health!

Nurturing Through the Childbearing Years
"If you are a mother, this life enhancing and possibly even life changing course, is one that  you don't want to miss!"

This is a course in self nourishment for pregnant women, freshly sprouted mamas and seasoned mothers alike! Together we will explore the unique nutritional needs of mothers, babies and young children in the holistic paradigm.

You will gain practical ideas and insights that you can implement in your own kitchen right away! Course includes hand-outs, take home exercises, plus tried, tested and truly delicious recipes!

Discover new nutrient dense and traditional foods that can optimize your family's overall health and well-being, while at the same time learn how to upgrade the quality of the food that your family already eats and loves!

Learn about time tested and safe, natural and non-toxic herbal remedies, homeopathy, supplements and super foods that address the common health concerns of mothers and young children.

Whether you are a mother of young children or a mother-to-be, your way of being in the kitchen greatly impacts your family's overall health and well-being. In this course we explore new frontiers in nourishment and look at nutrition and health as a practical, day to day practice .

Embracing a Healing Mindset by Creating Your Own Empowering Health Philosophy- Together we will look at our own health and healing mindsets by exploring topics such as self responsibility, as holism, preventative health and sustainable diet. We will end the evening with the film Gardens of Destiny by Dan Jason

Sherry Rothwell is a registered holistic nutritionist with the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.

After the initial introductory class on Thursday Nov. 6th, the course runs over a period of 8 more weeks. Start date is Thursday Nov. 13. After that, classes are scheduled Nov. 20, 27, Dec. 4, 11 Jan. 8, 15th and 22nd. Class starts @ 6:30 and ends @ 8:30pm

Babies under 2 years are welcome (childcare for ages 2 and older can be provided on site).
